Original Quality that Pays Off: Bosch Air-Mass Meters

Air and fuel must be fed through the engine in a precisely defined ratio. This takes place by means of an air-mass meter or air flow sensor which detects the actual air-mass flow and transmits the measured values to the regulating and control systems of the engine.

When, as a result of the energy crisis, the reduction of fuel consumption became an important development goal in 1972-73, Bosch introduced air-volume measurement with the mechanical K-Jetronic gasoline injection and the electronically controlled L-Jetronic gasoline injection. As the inventor, Bosch is still a pioneer in the field of technical development for air-volume and air-mass metering.
